Our Advanced Learning System consists of the following online courses, and utilizes our signature product: the Virtual Tutor System.
Real Estate Principles Course (to qualify for taking the state salesperson’s license exam)
For individuals wishing to obtain their California real estate state salesperson’s license, they must first pass the real estate principals exam, which is required by the California Department of Real Estate (the DRE). This exam is an “open book” test, and therefore is easily passed!
We have created our Real Estate Principles Course to help you study for, and pass, this required real estate principles exam! You can either use our textbook or textbook on CD, which both cover everything you need to know to pass the exam. When you are ready to take the principles exam, you may do so at our 24-hour online test center. Following taking the test, you will immediately receive a completion certificate from us via your personal computer, which you can download and print! All you need to do is mail a copy of your certificate, the Salesperson Examination Application (which you receive with your principal course material), and a check for $25 to the DRE. The DRE will then notify you of the date, time and location of your state salesperson’s exam. This notification process will take approximately four to six weeks.
During this notification “waiting” period, we recommend you use our Virtual Tutor System to study for the state salesperson’s license exam:
Virtual Tutor System for the state salesperson’s license exam
Our Virtual Tutor System (VTS) is a disk (CD) that is designed for your Windows-based personal computer to help you study for and pass the state salesperson’s license exam. We consider the VTS our signature product, because is a complete system that includes three study methods (Review Mode, Practice/Exam Mode, Intensive Mode), 13 practice exams (including a math exam) with 1,800 state exam-styled questions, and a 750-item Terms & Phrases section.
All available on one CD for you to utilize at any time on your personal computer!
Here’s how the three study methods fully prepare you for exam day:
Review
Mode
The Review Mode is the initial study method, and is the most interactive
of the three methods. As you answer each question, the tutorial
responds by telling you whether or not you answered each question
correctly. If you answered incorrectly, it provides the correct
answer, as well as why the answer is correct. The Review Mode enables
you to review all the questions of the 13 exams at one time.
Practice/Exam
Mode
The Practice/Exam Mode mimics the taking of a true examination,
except with immediate results! With this method, you “take” one
of the 13 tests (you choose which one and how often), and when you
are finished “taking” the test, your scores are immediately displayed
on your computer screen. The tutorial reports how many and what
percent of questions you answered correctly. The tutorial then prompts
a review of each of your incorrect answers, and during that review,
provides the correct answers.
Intensive
Mode
The third Intensive Mode is a “virtual flash card” study method.
Each of the 13 exams is reviewed “flash card” style, meaning that
each question is revealed along with its answer. We recommend that
this study method be utilized as a “crash course” shortly before
you take the state exam. It is not meant to be a short cut of the
other two methods.
The VTS is your “at your fingertips anytime” exam preparation companion, backed by our “no-pass, no-pay” money-back guarantee!
When you pass the state salesperson’s license exam, you will be issued a conditional salesperson’s license from the DRE. To obtain your permanent salesperson’s license, you must fulfill one more obligation, which is explained next:
“18-Month” Courses (to qualify for your permanent salesperson’s
license)
This is the last step required by the DRE before you can receive
your permanent salesperson license: you must complete two continuing education courses within 18
months (hence the name “18-month” courses).
Our “18-month” course material consists of two textbooks,Escrow and Practices. After ordering the textbooks and taking our online “open-book” exams, you will promptly be able to download your completion certificates from our Web site. Mail copies of these certificates to the DRE, and you will then receive your new, permanent salesperson’s license.
Congratulations!
Broker’s Courses
Before we begin discussing our broker’s courses, we recommend you
visit the DRE’s Web site (www.dre.ca.gov). The DRE requires individuals
to have reached certain educational levels (e.g., a four-year college
degree), or to have real estate sales experience before they can
apply for their broker’s license. Your personal educational level
and real estate sales experience will affect the number of courses
you will be required to take.
We offer eight online, DRE-approved courses you can take to obtain your broker’s license: Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Appraisal, Real Estate Practices, Real Estate Legal Aspects, Escrows, Economics, and Property Management. Each course includes a textbook, an assignment book (with answers), and an online “open-book” exam.
When you complete your required courses,* you will immediately receive your certificates of completion via your personal computer, a state exam application form, an experience form, and an equivalent experience form. All these forms, and a $50 fee, need to be submitted to the DRE. The DRE will then notify you of the date, time and location of your state broker’s exam. This notification process will take approximately four to six weeks.
During this notification “waiting” period, we recommend you use our Virtual Tutor System to study for the state broker’s license exam:
